Q. What type of maps do you carry and how much do they cost?
A. We carry maps to cover all of the United States, Mexico and Canada. We also have street maps of all major United States cities. Members can get these maps for free at all AAA offices.
Q. I'm driving on my vacation this year. How can you help me?
A. AAA has a full range of auto travel services to help our members. We can provide TripTiks®, TourBooks®, lodging reservations and many other services to make your vacation or business trip memorable and stress-free. Non-members have to pay extra for all of these products and services, and some are available only to our members.
Q. What is a TripTik and how does it work?
A. A TripTik is a personalized, spiral bound routing map guide that provides detailed information for your trip.
Each separate strip map points out where, along your selected route, you can find gas, food, lodging, points of interest, campgrounds, rest areas and AAA offices. It also indicates mileage from one point to the next, explains the type of roads you will be traveling, the kind of scenery you can expect and the price of any toll roads or toll bridges you may encounter. Major cities have separate strip maps showing major streets and a blow-up of the downtown area. These city maps also give you information on the best routes to take into and out of major metropolitan areas.
Q. What is a TourBook and how do you use one?
A. The AAA TourBooks cover all of the United States, Canada and Mexico. The geographically organized books are divided into two sections - attractions and accommodations.
The attractions section will give you a brief history of the state or province and some of the motoring and traveling laws applicable. It will also provide you with an alphabetical listing of cities and towns and give you a listing of major attractions in these places with information on operating hours and entrance prices. AAA member discount information is also provided.
The accommodations are also listed alphabetically by city with locations, phone numbers, AAA diamond ratings, prices and other information. Each establishment has been thoroughly inspected by AAA and must meet our rigid standards for cleanliness, service, comfort and safety. Many of these accommodations offer AAA Special Value Rates which can mean a substantial savings for our members.
Q. I don't have time to call for reservations for my upcoming trip. Can AAA help me?
A. Yes. One of our well-trained travel counselors will be happy to take your information and make all of your arrangements - for your hotel or even a private campground stay. Just call or visit your local AAA office.
